Tony and I were the first non-athletes to ever appear on the Kellogg’s Corn Flakes cereal box! Do you remember seeing this?
Was Leave it to Beaver still on television when the Kelloggs commerical was on?
Leave it to Beaver has never been off the air since 1957. And, at that time I believe the New Leave it To Beaver (100 episodes) which was on in the 80’s was also showing.
Yes, the original show was airing when this commercial was done. It was in syndication at that time. It still is today actually. This commercial was done in 1984. the new series was on also. The CBS Movie of the Week, “Still The Beaver” aired in 1983 and then the new series came on the Disney Channel in 1984 and 1984 was when this commercial was done.
Yes, I think I do! Being from your gen, my favorite cereal had to be Cheerios. If it was good enough for The Lone Ranger, it was good enough for me! Thanks for this memory, a li’l hazy, but none the less memorable!
I remember this jingle and watching Leave It To Beaver as a child. I watch it in the mornings on TVLand as much as possible as it is my all time favorite show EVER!!! Wholesome, funny, real life lessons and situations that still exist today but are handled so differently!!
Thank you for being a part of my life, although you have no clue who I am.
I wish you a very Merry Christmas, Happy New Year and God Bless you and your entire family!!
Yes I do remember! It was GREAT seeing you guys after so many years! Thanks for sharing it with us!
Don’t think I ever saw the spot, but I sure remember the cereal box…I cut out the front, framed it and hung it on my bedroom wall. Even back then, I was the ultimate (and unapologetic) LITB fan!
I sure do remember this! I remember seeing it in the store and asking my mother if we could get it. She told me no because she didn’t think I’d eat the cereal. Thanks to eBay, I finally got my box!
….One thing I forgot to mention. This commercial aired the same time “The New Leave it to Beaver” was being aired. I loved that show and quite disappointed that we aren’t able to see it anymore. Hey Jerry, despite all of the rights issues with the show, do you think there is a small gimps of hope that this show will ever be seen on DVD? Man, it sure would be great if it could!
Also, Jerry Mathers and Barbara Billingsley did a commercial for Oatmeal Raisin Crunch Cereal. Jerry’s line was “Look, Mom, I’m eating my oatmeal!” I can’t find that clip though. Jerry, do you remember that commercial?
I remember the two of your doing this plug for Kellogg’s corn flakes..you looked good then..
and you and Mr.Dow..still look good today..Thanks for sharing this wonderful memory…
I remember that commercial. It’s so good to see it again. Just viewing that puts a smile on my face, as I’m sure it does for others as well. Jerry, you and Tony Dow are an Amiican icon, and I wish Kellogg’s would still air those comercials, as all us baby boomers would love to see them again. Personally, I think people would still buy more corn flake cereal (or other cereals), if they could see “real” hollywood stars starring in those commercials, plus puting their faces on those boxes of cereal. I know I would!!!
I remembered that commercial. I also bought a box of that cereal, ate the cornflakes, and then cut out the front of the box and FRAMED IT. I had it hanging on my wall and it was quite a conversation piece!!!! Back in 1995, when Jerry Mathers and Ken Osmond were making a personal appearance at a Home and Garden Show in Chantilly Virginia, I baked and decorated cakes for each of them. My husband and I went to see Jerry and Ken and not only did we bring them cakes….we brought the framed Kellogg’s Cornflake box for Jerry to sign the back of.!!!! Now we really have a Keepsake. Hoping to cross paths with Tony Dow, and have him sign the back also. From my lips to God’s Ears. The photo of Jerry, Ken and I..(GloryBe) with their cakes, can be seen in the gallery, under celebrities on my WEBSITE….www.glorybecakes.com What an honor to meet them in person. Afterwards, my husband said…LET’s look around and we stepped across the aisle, and looked at a SunRoom display…… ended up buying one, and now we sit out there, and say…BEAVER CLEVER and Eddie Haskell were responsible for us finding this sunroom!!!! A STAR shall lead us.
