Leave it to Beaver — Happy Anniversary!

Leave it to Beaver 50th Anniversary - 2007 – Good Morning America

Happy 56th anniversary Leave it to Beaver!  Our very first episode aired on October 4, 1957 and we then shot 235 episodes.  The last first-run was in June of 1963.   The show then went into re-runs and is still airing today…the longest running scripted show in television history!

Leave it to Beaver has had a great run and it is still relevant and humorous.  I am glad to have had the privilege of being a part of this iconic television phenomenon which has made me friends all over the world.  I truly treasure all my memories of the cast, crew and fans, many of whom are lifelong friends.  When I look back, all of this has contributed to a great life!

Hi. Love your show. I have seen every episode and I still DVR them everyday. I wish life is like the way it was back then. People respected each other, except Eddy, mothers stayed home and had their job, and dad went to work to earn the money.

It’s been fun to watch the re-runs on MyTV. I watched as a kid. Loved all the characters in the school, from the teacher, Miss Landers, to Beaver’s classmates. What ever happened to Judy, Larry Mondello, Whitey, etc.?

  • donna says:

“Happy Anniversary” Beaver! I really enjoyed “Leave to Beaver” when I was a child, and still will watch its reruns if I catch them…

  • Jeff Barna says:

Like Tiffany and Duesenberg, quality never goes out of style. Leave it to Beaver is that caliber of quality. Congratulations, Jerry, on being a significant part of the LITB phenomenon. One of the greatest things about its longevity is the reverence that you and other cast members have for the show. Class act all the way. Thank YOU for a lifetime of quality entertainment.

  • Ira says:

Thanks Jerry for making us all feel safe, happy, comfortable and loved.

Best show in American TV history because it so well reflects the America we all want to live in.

  • Tim Wilson says:

This has always been one of my favorite shows since I could ever remember. I’m 49 & still love watching Leave it to Beaver. In todays world, it’s such a shame that a family could never live like the Cleaver family did.

  • susan warren says:

I love this show…. we watched it everyday after school and to this day if we see it on. Happy Anniversary beaver

  • Terry says:

Great old show! The new Robin Williams sitcom this week featured a giant cup of coffee spilling on the crowd. Could that be a tribute to the giant soup bowl??

  • Mary Ellen Lloyd says:

Yup, it’s the best. No doubt whatsoever. Formed most of our generation’s character – which is monumental. You already know I’m a major fan from past posts, so “nuff said.”

  • Mary Schneider says:

Congratulations on the best show ever! I have been called “Mrs. Cleaver” by several people minus the pearls and dress.
I loved having home-made cookies ready for my children as they got off the school bus. Also, I kept a squeaky clean home. My handsome husband is Tony, not Ward. and is tall like him.

  • Anita Zierman says:

I love “Leave it To Beaver”! I remember watching it when I was young, and now that I’m almost 60 I still watch it. I remember also talking to Jerry Mathers one day when I saw him in front of a church in Encino, CA when I was with a friend there for some ceremony. I think he was 11 or 12 at the time. Not sure. Thought he was adorable LOL. LITB was one of the best shows with a good family!

  • Rod Wood says:

Happy Anniversary. Yes, best show ever! Thanks Jerry for sharing your “real” life with us as well as your great acting. .

  • gary drexler says:

I went to school at valley college with the beaver.. he was shy and nice kid.. I also met his brother walley at the paint store on van nuys blvd. He came in to the paint store to buy paint to paint at the studios so he could get back on his yacht and go sailing with a slew of woman as his deck hands.. Is wally still alive.. where is he ??

  • Fred Crowder says:

I still watch Leave It To Beaver after all these years. It was part of my childhood watch it on our old Black & White RCA TV. I really do wish that my own parents were more like the characters that Hugh Beaumont and Barbara Billingslee played .. Congrats to the LITB remaining cast and to my remembrance of Hugh and Barbara who will never be forgot.

  • Mike Swan says:

I miss shows like this that showed our values so well instead of pandering to the lowest forms of humor and cheap laughs. Thanks for the great memories and times we shared with you and the other cast and production members.

  • John "Dennis" Mancino says:

What a great show…and great times. The whole cast was great from Ward, June, Wally, the “Beav”, Eddie, Lumpy, Larry, Whitey, and, of course, Lumpy’s dad. Great memories!! Still watch them on “MeTV.

Love watching leave it to beaver. Happy anniversary! This show should be shown to all school childen today. It is one of the few shows I let my 8 year old daughter watch. The values taught and respect for their parents is to be commended, those values should always remain. The acting is terrific. I understand you may have a book Jerry about the show, would love to read it.
Thanks to all the people to contributed to such a classic.

  • Rita Sanchez says:

  • kathy keith says:

Me tv just started showing your first shows, you are so cute. Being in my early fifties I watched reruns as a child but it is so fun to watch as an adult too. As I had said earlier my 8 year old doesn’t watch much tv but this show is one i approve of. I am definately going to get the dvd set to show some of the young people i teach some of those life lessons, respect and values that were demonstrated in the leave it to beaver shows. I saw one comment of a person who works with “at risk” kids who he has view the show, it is a terrific idea! The metv in san diego airs leave it to beaver 8a.m. to 9a.m. m-f. . Thanks for sharing some of your current life with us in the audience and again happy anniversary!
